Georgetown County computer hacking situation
« on: February 16, 2021, 01:56:06 PM »
Let's shine a light on this cyberattack/ransomware demand.

I'm always interested in such matters.

They have refused to pay the ransom to return their files to normal, and are instead simply rebuilding their systems. Simply??? I think not.

I support them in their refusal to pay ransom to the scumbag hackers.

My personal experience involves calling the Auditor's office today, asking about an earlier request to obtain my homestead exemption since I own my house and have attained the proper age for the exemption.

I was told they can't do anything yet. Ok, I'll call them again in a month.

My other issue is with my property taxes. They owe me a partial refund on taxes due to a successful challenge to my assessed value.

I know people that have gotten refunds already, but not I.

Will follow-up on this later.

Anyone else being affected by this hacking and rebuilding of computer systems situation?
