There is a large stack of railroad ties and a pile of the sort of stones used as a bed for railroad tracks behind the fire station at Prince and Fraser. I hadn't noticed them before. In addition, Front Street has been closed between Fraser and Dozier Streets. This combination of events creates the appearance that improvements of the track bed leading into (and out of) the steel mill are about to be made. Reinforcement or strengthening of this basic infrastructure would be important if there were plans to move heavy industrial equipment (or even a lot of scrap metal and deconstruction debris). If, on the other hand, there are no plans afoot to move a bunch of heavy stuff around, out or into the site, closing the street and improving the track bed would seem like a big a waste of time, energy and money.
My idle speculation: Something is afoot. What? I don't know.
